Sadie was delighted to be interviewed on BBC News by Ben Brown as part of the BBC’s series on the 2018 RIBA Stirling Prize.
As last year’s winner of the prize for Hastings Pier, Sadie spoke about the importance of designing for communities and how with the Pier we felt we were curators of the communities vision and needs, as well as designers. She discussed her belief that what makes great architecture is the fact that it embeds itself into the community and it touches the life of people who use it. Sadie also praised the exceptional quality of this year’s shortlisted projects and there use of sustainable and innovative materials.
Good luck to all five shortlisted Practices – we remember the feeling of excitement and anticipation!!
