dRMM at the Timber Expo - 24-09-2013

Tower of Love

Associate director Jonas Lencer will be speaking at the Timber Expo NEC, Birmingham, on Wednesday 25th Septmber at 13.25.

Jonas will present dRMM’s work in cross-laminated timber construction with special emphasis on the Tower of Love project located in Blackpool, shortlisted for the 2013 Wood Awards. The Timber Expo will allow visitors to view new technologies and products on the timber market, as well as attend various seminar talks free of charge.

Endless Stair, The Making Of - 09-09-2013

Endless Stair will be open to the public at the end of this week (Friday 13th September 2013). For the past week the team have been on site outside the Tate Modern gallery witnessing the construction of the hardwood CLT structure.

In this video, produced by the project’s sponsor – The American Hardwood Export Council – dRMM’s Prof Alex de Rijke and Jonas Lencer join the rest of the team to talk about their experience working on this exciting project.

Endless Stair was commissioned by the London Design Festival as the Landmark Project for this year’s edition of the event. The structure will be available to explore between the 13th September – 10th October.

ERADE_(01)dRMM  has been chosen as one of the six shortlisted practices for the BD Education Architect of the Year 2013, Nursery to Secondary category.

It has been an important year for dRMM with two all-newbuild schools completed and Planning secured unanimously for a new campus for educating the Deaf community – a project of national significance. These very different projects are defined by ingenuity in space planning, inventive use of materials and construction, and above all a collaborative open approach where students are placed centre.
