Exeter City Council has unanimously approved dRMM’s plans for the new Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.
The main building comprises a 6000m2 mixed use through school (pre-school to college), and includes a ‘Deaf High Street’ with BSL centre, cafe, audiology clinic, theatre and other facilities to bring the deaf and hearing communities together. The approval also includes a 120-bed student accommodation building, external sport and play, and social and learning landscape. The designs respond to the particular needs of the students to support both visual as well as spoken communication.
