Director Alex de Rijke will participate in a panel discussion on water-based architecture at this year’s ‘Talks With 100% Design’ as part of Clerkenwell Design Week.
The discussion will be chaired by critic and broadcaster Tom Dyckoff. In March, Dyckoff hosted episode 28 of BBC2’s The Culture Show which featured Alex in conversation with Beatrice Galilee, discussing the success of water-house communities in Amsterdam. ‘Talks With 100% Design presents Waterworlds’ will focus on a similar subject matter and will see Alex joining other architects and institutes to look at the possibilities for projects involving construction and habitation on water in the UK.
Alex led the research and expedition team for dRMM’s project entitled ‘The Dutch Way’ for the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale, and later brought ‘Floatopolis’, a masterplan for water-housing in London, to the exhibition at the RIBA Headquarters entitled Venice Takeaway: Ideas to Change British Architecture.
‘Waterworlds’ will take place at the Farmiloe Building, St John Street, Clerkenwell on the 21st May 2013 at 18.00hours. The event is free of charge. Seats on a first come first served basis.
